Place Posts and Tentative Check-Ins

How the place page groups upcoming and past posts, what Tentative check-ins means, and how active-check-in metadata connects to venue activity.

Where you see this in the app

This page documents the lower half of a place page:

SurfaceWhat it does
place metadata cardsShow venue details and active-check-in count
Tentative check-insShow venue-linked posts grouped by timing
Upcoming / Past tabsSplit venue activity by timing

Active check-ins and place details

The place page exposes a few status cards before the post list.

LabelMeaning
Active check-insHosts checked in within the current active window
TimezoneReference timezone for the place
City, Country, Phone, WebsiteVenue metadata when available

The Create a post for this place card is the fast path into posting against that venue.

Tentative check-ins, upcoming vs past

Tentative check-ins is the place page’s main post list.

TabWhat users should expect
UpcomingPlanned or currently relevant venue activity
PastOlder venue-linked activity

The empty states matter too. An empty Upcoming tab means no current or near-future venue activity is visible yet.

Flexible timing and UTC note

Not every place-linked post has a precise schedule.

If a post does not have a strict schedule, the grouping can fall back to Flexible timing.

The page also explicitly warns that times are shown in UTC, while separately naming the place timezone. That distinction is important when a viewer is planning around venue-local time.

How to read venue post lists

The intended mental model is:

  1. use the metadata cards to understand the venue,
  2. use Upcoming to find timely activity,
  3. switch to Past when you want history,
  4. treat Flexible timing as unscheduled but still relevant venue activity.

This section is the venue activity board, not just a generic chronological feed clone.
